Wayback: Wayside Coffee and BacSeen
We have not visited the Art District in a while and when we did, it was a back-to-back event with the soft opening of Wayside Coffee and BacSeen. Both teams had been a catalyst of how local scene had been nurtured together with our team With Cafe’ Joint back in circulation, and new establishments popping up, Art District is yet again generating a nostalgic buzz we are familiar with.
Wayside Coffee – Art District
With Dosé sadly halting operations, the Grey Room is now home to a newer caffeine-induced experience — Wayback Coffee – Art District. What used to be just a pop-up concept is now a fully blown business by a team of musically-inclined team and family.
Stepping inside the establishment itself is like being transported to a familiar warm hug of freshly ground coffee, warm lighting, and a subtle buzz of discussions; isolated from the hustle and bustle of a yet again busy Art District.
Behind the counter, a skilled team of familiar faces to Rekindle PH works their magic, expertly crafting each cup of coffee with precision and care. From rich and robust espressos to velvety lattes; every sip is a testament to their dedication to quality.
For those seeking a caffeine-free indulgence, the menu also boasts an array of specialty drinks. To accompany your beverage of choice, a tempting selection of freshly baked pastries and savory snacks awaits, providing the perfect complement to your coffee experience. They will soon be offering a selection of food too.
But it’s not just the exceptional coffee and delectable treats that keep patrons coming back; it’s the sense of community that permeates every corner of the shop. Here, friends and strangers share conversations and music, forging connections that extend far beyond the confines of the coffee shop walls.
The Rekindle PH team and our partner Hut;k will soon graze the performance corner for intimate events. Were there talks about bigger and louder events outside, maybe…
Wayside Coffee is located in the Art District, beside our friends from Storm Tattoo Studio.
And did we mention they have the FRIENDLIEST cashier!?! Now you know!

BacSeen
Back-to-back with Wayside Coffee’s Soft Opening, BacSeen was just across the courtyard at Cafe’ Joint. BacSeen is spearheaded by one of our artonist friends Albert Temporosa Peñafuerte AKA Aero. who helped us jump-start our team. BacSeen is geared towards a specific niche of a more local urban lifestyle just like Rekindle PH is geared towards performance poetry and music.
As the MCs take to the stage, their lyrical prowess commands attention, delivering powerful messages that resonate with the crowd. From tales of resilience and triumph to social commentary on pressing issues, their words serve as a voice for the community, echoing the experiences and aspirations of those in attendance.
